I made a mistake today at work - for the first time in 24 years, I put the wrong marker onto a radiograph and the surgeon made an incision into the wrong side of the pelvis, couldn't find the pelvic fracture and we had to re-X-ray the cat before starting again. The extra incision is peanuts compared to it's other problems and everyone was very kind...."we're not machines, everyone makes mistakes...." but that's not the point. It's a really big deal to me as a radiographer and I was gutted.....spent about an hour trying not to cry every time I thought about it, failed and cried and then came home and sobbed again. I'm fortunate to work in an environment where people try not to blame each other and are supportive but I am SO angry with myself that it will take some getting over. What a horrid day :(
