Which was the more invasive spell?

Apr 23, 2010 22:40

Was having a discussion on snickfic's LJ entry about "Him," and an interesting question was posed in regards to "Band Candy"...

I feel that "Band Candy" wasn't a necessarily invasive spell (in regards to Giles and Joyce), because it was them--it's how they would have actually behaved had they been that age.  So the question becomes...does a ( Read more... )

If we're going by "best episode," then clearly OMWF blows away all comers. But if we're going by chaotic effects of a spell, then I go with Band Candy. OMWF is so wonderful in so many ways, but the basic gist of "Here, I make you sing and dance now" doesn't have the zing of "Here, I regress you to teenagerhood."

Or possibly it just seems like cheating to list OMWF as the answer to everything ever.

Also, I wouldn't argue that the Band Candy spell was more invasive than the spells in BBB or Him, just that the effects of it were to my mind more serious.

That's exactly why I added it. Seems like the obvious choice, but it makes you think if that's the choice you really want :)

I chose "Him" for most invasive, simply because it had long term and generational effects...and the one in BBB was actually miscast, so I disregarded it in my choice.

Dang, not sure how I missed the first one, but I think I'm gonna go with "Him."

Nards.

Can you go back and change it with the back button? That works sometimes.

Nope, tried that, sometimes it doesn't let me.

I think if you select View answer for the poll it will give you another options like "Fill out poll", "Discuss results" and you may change your vote.

I kept going back and forth for OMWF and Something Blue for best spell. I chose Something Blue because that episode made me laugh out loud the most out of any Buffy episode. (Giles falling over and getting more scotch was freaking hilarious).

Word :D

Yeah, I put OMWF in there because it does qualify, and seems like an obvious choice...but then you think, "is it?"

I think "Superstar" might qualify, too.

Damn it.

*shakes fist at lack of poll editing*

Well...technically, wasn't the town and its people just a side effect/byproduct to Jonathan's "make me cooler than cool" spell on himself?

Band Candy is awesome (too bad for the lack of Spike/Angel in it)

<--would have loved to have seen teen!Spike in one of those eps.

At least there was Spin the Bottle--if only that ep had been in s5 :/

About the invasiveness, I band candy doesn't count as all that invasive to me, because it wasn't compelling anyone to have sex, just to be a bit more reckless.

Him, BB&B and Something blue on the other hand compelled people that would normally not have sex or are even enemies, so I'm glad none of these episodes ended with someone actually having sex, because that would have counted as rape by spell for me.
Similar to what is happening in the comics with B/A.

I'm very much torn up for favorite spell epsode between Something Blue and Spin the bottle. Spin the bottle is just awesome, teen irish oaf Angel is the best! And that scene where he runs out of the bathroom proclaiming "I'm invisible!" never fails to promt laughing fits from me.

Agreed on Band Candy and the others.

Oh lord, the comics...Just when I thought my head was successfully buried in that sand :p

Yeah, I went for Spin the Bottle too :D While teen!Giles was pretty nifty (and reminiscent of Spike...or is that just me), the collective team of teens on Angel was just W.I.N. for me :)
