At about 6:17 a.m., police responded to the 5500 block of Katella Avenue just east of Warland Drive after reports of an accident, Cypress police Sgt. Jim Olson said.
The accident occurred when a man driving a Mercedes-Benz C320 west on Katella was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided with a black Porsche Cayenne, Olson said.
"He was going against traffic," Olson said.
The man driving the Mercedes, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 53-year-old woman driving the Cayenne was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange with non life-threatening injuries, Olson said.
