Of note!

Pounce has pancreatitis. Definded as: n. Inflammation of the pancreas.

She also had a pretty bad urinary track infection that was probably not yet, but would have been soon attacking her kidneys and other organs.

We spent several days dishing up three kinds of meds morning and night.

We are now in the phase of dishing up two kinds of meds morning and night.

We are looking forward (a few days from now...ok more like a week from now) to the phase where we dish up one kind of med morning and night.

We are really, really, looking forward to the phase where we dish up one kind of med every other day.

The first med we phased out was anti-nausia to end her vomiting that was caused by her upsetness and her pancreas. Next up to go will be the antibiotics, i will be thrilled to get her off of those as the dose is 1cc (tons, f-ing tons) of liquid that must be squirted in her mouth. The last med that will be phased out is a steriod to reduce the inflamation. She could need this periodically after this treatment course ends, but when she has symptoms again, we'll know exactly what to reach for and won't have to take her in unless they don't work.

Ultimately, if all goes well she will not need meds forever, just her normal suppliments on her food (and a tiny bit of generic Pepcid AC).

In other news, I cooked chicken last night.

We had gotten some for Pounce to eat raw, b/c she wasn't eating much and she loves raw bird (it's her preferred food right up next to canned fish). But the butcher only had the super fancy free-range organic chicken whole...so I had to buy the entire bird. Pounce ate a wing in several sittings. I had to cook the rest, and let me tell you, I never cook chicken, really, I don't cook meat all that often...and if I do it's lamb or venison, or something like that.

I was thrilled with how it turned out!

I dumped the bird in an oven safe covered dish. Arranged the pieces (the butcher cut it up, no charge in one layer. I sprinkled over it some Maine Sea Salt and a dash or two of blended Italian Seasoning. Into the oven, covered at 400F for 20 minutes. Cooked uncovered at the same temp for about 40 minutes. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM juicy and tender and flavorful meat! I'm telling you: buy the best quality foods and you don't have to dress them up at all. Good products cook up with simply care and treatment!

Now if you're interested in my workplace saga...

The ED and the Board of Trustees will be meeting on Valentine's Day to discuss (yet again) what to do about the vacant position(s) in my department.

Hearing this, I calmly accepted the news and resigned myself to having to seek new employment. I don't want to leave....but lj user"vanderbolt" will confirm that it is not humanly possible for anyone (even a highly functioning, well educated and very organized individual like me) to do three jobs and not go crazy. I'm going crazy. I'm loosing passion for my work, I've lost focus, I hate not working on a team of people and I don't get paid enough (even for non-profit) to have my home life suffer so much. I'm working late and weekends and I don't want to do it anymore.

I've applied for a Development Officer positon at Planned Parenthood of Western Washington as well as positions at Bellevue School Foundation, YouthCare and Fred Hutchenson Cancer Center. I don't want any of these jobs. What I want is an offer, so that I can let my boss know that I can walk out the door if she doesn't hire me as director of the department and let me hire my own staff.

I hope I get it. I sent the resumes & cover letters out Monday night. I heard back from one place that the attachment didn't send. I re-sent. I heard from another that my application was received. I'll contact the other two tomorrow and figure out if they received my application or not.
