Tired

For a while now my doc has said that I should cut back on caffeine. It messes with moods, sleep, breast tissue, all kinds of stuff...it's generally just not a friend to the ladies. (if you know jfrog78 you can imagine the way he might say 'friend to the ladies' and know what I was thinking when I typed that) at least not this one.

But those of you who know me well also know that I adore coffee. Unlike mysticalforest who finds the brew to be vile filth from the depths of hell, I find coffee lovely. I love the taste of good coffee. I love the ritual of the brew. I love the smell. I love finding the best coffee shop and becoming a regular. I love the crunch of the beans and how soft and fluffy that can become when properly ground. I love the way the milk or cream mixes in. I love the buzz.

I'm also rather addicted to it.

This week begins my slow departure from the current level of caffeination that I experience on a daily basis.

Week 1 - this week
One caffeinated beverage a day. Said beverage may contain 2 espresso shots or be one average sized mug (I use the one I got when I graduated college with my college logo on it - I think it's about 10 or 12oz) filled with home-brew coffee, milk & sugar.

During any given recent week, I've had a few days that I've managed to pull off the 'only one' thing - but this week I've done it all week so far. Ok 4 days, but I think that's progress.

I'm hoping to see how I feel on Sunday and I'm considering a reduction in volume for next week. Something like 8 to 10 oz for home-brew. But I'm not sure what to do for the coffee shop stuff...so I think, next week, I'll continue to allow myself 2 shots. Of course I also have to abide by my new rule for my budget: only one cup of barista-brewed java a week.

Right now though - I feel tired, and I've got a tiny headache coming on. If they persist, I'm going to make week 2 a repeat of week 1...to get my body used to the lower doses it's receiving before I step it down again. My hope is to do this whole thing with relatively little withdrawal.
