Three Days of Dragon

Apr 28, 2008 08:43

I've been very quiet lately. Some of that has been because troll's been on school holidays. Some of that's because tygrr's been home a bit lately as work has slowed down. Some of it's been because I've had a particularly nasty bout of flu.

But today.. ahhhhhhhhh, today shows me there really IS a god!

Today troll went back to school.

Today tygrr started her traineeship at work - a full time position.

And today, I feel soooo much better than I have over the last week!

And I have the house all to myself!!

Well, me and umpteen dozen kittens!

I'm still a little tired from this flu but feeling a lot better.

In other news, things are settling down here now after the initial rush of sorting boys.

It is looking like I shall be settling with cooper and fox.

Cooper served again one afternoon last week and shows a lovely nature. He’s very helpful and puts thought into tasks assigned to him as well as taking care not to put demands on me when I was unwell with the flu.

He shows a keen interest in the lifestyle and today when it's late enough I shall call a friend of mine in the city who has an awesome piece of play equipment and arrange to take cooper down there for a special play time. When I mentioned this to Cooper and asked if he would find it difficult to meet me down in the city he very considerately offered to pick me up and chauffeur me.

Fox has been a little more of a concern but that has mainly been a communication thing. In his efforts not to be a burden to me he initially used to hold back to telling me things or asking for things - which we all know leads to misunderstandings. After a couple of these with the resultant necessity of a certain little fox to face the ire of an annoyed Dragon his communication level has lifted well.

One area of concern with him though was the struggle he was having at being up on time to catch the necessary train and bus to come to serve. It is a long journey for him - nearly two and a half hours - and he doesn't mind the travel, just has trouble being up early enough to catch it!

Of course not having him arrive on time was most inconvenient and was annoying me and stressing him. So on the weekend W/we discussed alternatives and are going to try a solution this week.

So today when he arrives he is bringing an overnight bag with him and, if all goes well, shall be staying until Wednesday afternoon. This way it will not matter how late we stay up talking and if he is inclined to sleep in the next morning (and let's face it, he shall be able to sleep later without the necessity of over two hours travel to get here hanging over him), and should he prove difficult to wake then a glass of ice water in the eat will work wonders I'm sure!

My little pet does have some social anxiety issues and staying overnight in a relatively strange house is more than a small challenge for him, but as he said, far better to face that then the ire of a Dragon when her boy is late!

If it works out well over the next couple of weeks then we shall extend his stay until Thursday evenings, leaving Fridays and the weekends free for me to spend with my family. It might work out well. Time will tell.

Oh, and for those who are concerned, I took the precaution this weekend of having tygrr install a lock on the inside of troll's bedroom door - just to be safe. I trust fox, but troll and I will both sleep that much better knowing she has that lock.

So, the next few days should prove interesting! Let's see how my little fox handles three days of Dragon!
