Haven't done one of these in a while. This was a non-kid weekend, so Ray was working and I was trying to find ways not to be in the house. We've had 85-90 degree temps with 90% humidity the last few days.
Friday night I went and helped G (
mgs_naughtycat) with some sewing. The Jeep had gone in that morning for a new windshield so I was waiting for Ray to call and say it was time to go pick it up. At 6 I called him and found out that the windshield place had not called and were now closed. Saturday I was up early and went with G to a horse training clinic with D2 (owner of horses Jet and Major). I'm still a little nervous around horses but it's getting better. D2 and G got the horses loaded up and we drove to the state park where the clinic was held. Basically they were trying to get the horses to do as they were told. I've decided horses are less like bunny rabbits and more like 1200-pound toddlers. After the clinic G and D2 went riding for a bit then came back and told me it was my turn. I have been on a horse less than a half-dozen times in my life, always on trail rides where my horse was trained to follow the one in front of it. I spent about 20 minutes learning the basics of handling a horse at a walk. I even convinced Jet to go a different direction than Major! Ok, it's not much but I was excited. After lunch (where Major confirmed his likeness to a toddler by sticking his nose in everything D2 was trying to eat) we loaded the horses back up. D2 wanted to load Major first but Jet was crowding the ramp to the trailer so I took his lead rope and moved him a few feet away. He wanted to start walking back but I told him no. He responded by stepping on my foot. Horses have soft hooves, that's why they need shoes so they don't like to step on things. If they do, it's usually on purpose. Fortunately I was wearing boots so my toes are fine. When it was finally Jet's turn to get in the trailer he decided he didn't want to get in after all and just stood there on the ramp. Yep, definitely 1200 pound toddlers.
When we got back towards home I called the auto glass place on my cell phone and got the answering service for the chain. They told me they were only open Saturday by appointment but that they would send an email to the shop and if someone was there they'd call me. I even drove past the shop on my way home - closed up and dark. I was not happy at all. The Jeep had an appointment for 10 am Friday, we've received no phone call of any sort...if it's done why did no one call and if it isn't done why is no one working on it?
When I got home it was 90 degrees in the apartment. I sat down on the couch for a minute and woke up an hour later. A shower helped immensely. As I was getting out my phone rang. It was Ray telling me he was leaving work and to be ready to go riding when he got home. I scrambled into jeans and got my wet hair braided back so it would go under a helmet. We took the bike for a late dinner but decided not to go see my friend's band play.
Sunday I took Ray into work, then dragged my laundry to my sister's house to borrow her A/C - I mean TiVO - I mean laundry machines. I got to hang out with the little nephews and the puppy too. After I picked Ray up we took Mom to dinner, since it was 95 degrees in the house that night. My sister gave us a window unit A/C that was left at her place so hopefully things will be cooler tonight and I can actually make dinner. Although deli meat is looking better and better.
