Well, I got to watch some of the filing in on TV, but had to listen to the actual swearing in on the radio on the way to work. So early in the day! It was a wonderful moment, which I'm sure many of you would agree. I thought his speech was serious to fit the times but also offered hope, provided we're willing to work for it. It was a great tone to set. I'm not sure he'll be able to accomplish everything he wants to (the U.S. is a very large ship that can't turn on a dime), but I am confident that he'll at least try.
Randomly - things I've learned from watching the History Channel last night. 1) the West Wing was supposed to be temporary, but since it's been around 100 or so years now, they're keeping it, 2) the West Wing is way off to the side of the building you see whenever you see pictures of the White House. I thought they were much more connected, and 3) the Oval Office was constructed where it is today so that FDR could have easy access with his wheelchair.
