Apparently Ridley Scott is planning on directing a movie version of Joe Haldeman's Forever War. This is incredibly positive news, I think.

Agreed. I expect he'd do a spectacular job with Haldeman's story.

I wonder how the "in the future, everybody is gay" part will go down with the studio executives?

I do think they might downplay that aspect, just a teeny weenie bit. :D

Which, while perhaps disappointing, wouldn't be a major issue to me, as it was a speculative response to an overpopulated Earth; something it seems we're not so worried about.

I'm skeptical that it will do the novel justice, but on the other hand, at least it will be better than the comic book adaptation. That's because it would be simply impossible to be worse than the comic book version of Forever War.
