Whoo hoo! best dirctor it could have. Imagine what the Golden Compass and Narnia would have been like if he's directed.....

And no, as much as I like Jackson's direction on the Lord of the Rings, I believe Del Toro is the better director. He understands the dark and light side of fantasy.

I've not seen the Golden Compass, but I can imagine GDT would add nuance and depth to the religious commentary aspect of both.
