I read
silkblade's journal this morning, and decided that I really liked what she posted for goals (I'll let you look for yourself, as she copied other people's stuff, but it's all very good). What it boils down to is instead of setting impossible goals for the year, to consciously just do more. I have several things I really want to make sure I accomplish this year, but none of it is drastic. It all just involves becoming a better me.
I plan on getting fit again. I feel I'm finally in a place mentally where I can really do that. I've gone back to my
SparkPeople account and will be tracking what I eat and do, and make a conscious attempt to keep up with it. I really have no reason not to.
I plan on being a better housewife. Oddly enough, this will involve spending slightly more time outside of the house. As part of my fitness goal, I'm going to join a local Curves-type gym. It's small, all women, and they have a playroom for the kids, so I can take Caleb and Amber and let them play while I get a quick workout. It's also very local. How does this fit in with being a better housewife, you wonder? Well, I figure by getting out more, I won't feel so oppressed by my house. And I'll be less desensitized to its condition, which should help me make sure it is in better shape. Right now everything is rather clean and sorted through, so we're in more of a maintenance mode.
I also plan on getting some sort of job. I know I'll feel better about myself if I'm able to get out and work every so often. The local gas station is hiring part time nights and weekends. They said they'd be willing to hire someone who could only work on the weekends. So as long as Rick gets home early enough, I'm going to head over there to apply. It will accomplish two things - it will get me out of the house, and I'll be earning some money every week. It won't be much, but I'll be able to use it to do things for myself (haircuts, clothing, things I don't do now).
I might go bact to school, but I haven't decided on that just yet.
I also plan to blog here about more personal stuff. If you do read this, let me know, okay? It's easier to blog if I think someone is reading it. I'm also going to comment more on other people's blogs.
See, nothing drastic. Just making simple changes to make me a better me. Now what are you doing for the new year?
