Warren's party may just be one of my favorite days of the summer. It's always very much fun and just....well, good! We got there a little late because Mai had to work until one, but there were some other people still arriving so we didn't feel so bad. They didn't go all out Hawaiian this year, but they did still have the calypso band (I thought of you and your steel drum Sam!!!). This year's alcoholic beverages were Mai Thai's and something called "hemlock punch" (the yacht club at the lake is the hemlocks yacht club, just so you didn't think we were all pulling a Socrates!!!). Dad had six and a half Mai Thai's! Needless to say, he is feeling very mellow indeed this evening. haha The food was really great too!!! They had this barbecue chicken with spicy pineapple sauce, meat on a stick, these crab rangoon looking things that were stuffed with a curious but delicious mixture of peas and mint, and this fritter things with chourico and squash, which, believe it or not, were really fantastic!!! We are all of course still feeling very stuffed!
Most of the people there were really friends to Warren's wife, Deidre, since it technically her annual bash. But everyone from Biss Lumber is always invited, as well as some of the customers there who are really more like friends. Mai and Bubba came with us as well, since we've always been friends with Warren, and we got to see some people Mai used to work with, as well as our elderly-ish but crazy friend Carl, who decided to turn up with a visor attached to a wig. He was like the 60 year old version of Guy Fieri. It was pretty funny. :) The lake was a little too rough today, so I only got to soak my feet on the dock (literally: the waves were washing up and OVER the dock, so I just had to stand there), but it was still rather lovely, with the breeze and everything.
When we came home, Dad promptly fell asleep on the couch while Mom went to the cemetery with Mai. I stayed home to keep an eye on our holiday drinker and ended up watching The Chamber of Secrets. Prisoner of Azkaban is on now, but since Dad woke up we've been watching the Portuguese channel. This is fine as well....EXCEPT THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR MY HEART WILL GO ON JUST STARTED AND WE NEED TO CHANGE THE CHANNEL NOW. Oh dear God. Normally, I would think Titanic to be the perfect movie, but it's that damn Leo! No matter what he's in, he's just Leo to me. This makes for not so good a movie experience. Ah well. Sub Hugh Jackman and I guess you've got a film. ;) Kate Winslet is of course terrific in anything. :)
Tomorrow we actually have another party to go to. None of us are too jazzed about this. We'll see how it plays out.
