The water's always changing, always flowing. :)
Jeremy graduated from high school today. We are VERY, VERY, proud of him! We threw him a big party at our house. We ordered some food from Paiva's catering (that have the best roast beef in the galaxy!), got some soda and booze, invited a bunch of people, and had at it. My Uncle John's family came, my Uncle Carlos, my Aunt Cindy's family, my Aunt Lucy, my Uncle Russ, my cousin Inez and her husband Manny, Paul and his brood, my grandmother, Mai and Bubba, our neighbors John and Lucy, and our friends Charlene and Mike, her son. Including the babies, we had 34 people, so not a bad turn out! Everyone seemed like they had a really good time and it was just a lot of fun to celebrate together. It was a shame Pai could not have been there to see it. My grandmother stood to applaud when Jeremy walked across the stage, which was kind of bittersweet for all of us to see. I wish Pai had been there too, because that is why the two of them came to this country, this land of opportunity. They came in the pursuit of a better life for themselves and for future generations, and for the chance at having something more. So to see Jeremy walk across the stage brings an incredible sense of accomplishment and pride, not only to my grandmother I am sure, but to my parents and to me as well. My family lived like 19th century farmers before they came here. Seriously, the Amish have it EASY by comparison, so chew on that for awhile. It's incredible that we now have the opportunities we do, and that Jeremy, having completed his four years, can now go on to pursue his own life and his own big dreams. It's pretty overwhelming to think of, but also overwhelmingly wonderful.
