"I want to be able to say I've been in an octagon building!"
Nanda and I were driving on Rt. 7, and as we passed the Sheraton Hotel, that thought popped into my head. I suppose we had some kind of conversation following that about octagon buildings, and how odd it was to build such a thing.
On our return trip, we randomly decide, hey, lets go in to the Hotel! Yeah, Great Idea!! Brilliant idea of the year. Lots of laughing along with it, I assure you. We park, and decide to go in and "look like we're important and know what we're doing. Walk straight to the elevator." Yes, perfect. Just have to stop laughing uncontrollably now. That would be good. We walk into the lobby, and quickly realize that we have no idea where the elevators are... (they were quite hidden, around the corner. That's SO cheating on the hotel's part). Go in the elevator and pick a floor! OK, so Nanda picks 24...the top floor. We get out, and by the way, this was the fastest elevator in....ever. It made me dizzy. The top floor has some kind of club room thing(?) with an awesome view, but there was a woman in there staring at us. We then proceeded to stop at every floor and walk around. This was very boring. Al the floors are the same and dull. I think we tired of every floor and started skipping floors around floor 19... So we stopped at floor M.
"M?"
"Yes, what is that?"
"I don't know, push it!"
(there was an important looking lady in the elevator with us at this point. I wonder what she was thinking)
As we get off on M, the first thing I notice are these two couches....the ones with only half a back, (god what are they called?!) and you lean on them in one corner, the rest is open. There's a wonderful view of the pool, and you can smell the chlorine. There's a terraced glass ceiling, and on each terrace is a flat bed of rocks. Looking at them, Nanda asks,
"I wonder how they got the rocks up there? Did they do it while they were building it, or did they wait until they were finished and then use a fork lift?"
Then back to the couches, whatever they are called. I stretched out on one, and immediately thought of shrinks. A little "session" followed between Nanda and I, and I think we made great progress. We laugh like little girls at this point, and then decide it's time to leave. As we leave, I laugh to myself. We're definitely insane. But it's great to be insane with someone right along side you.
