Home with Chris & Revisiting Blogging

Aug 10, 2008 10:12

It's been a wrenching few days. I can't sleep worth shit but Chris is going to be ok, in fact better than he was (physically, any way. The goofy jokes are forever.)(For the benefit of those who haven't seen the emails, I'll cut and paste some of that info below.)We are now sitting on the couch at home and he's reading the funnies to me, interrupting me every 2 minutes while I type this. It's wonderful!

I also thought I needed to get back on the blogging horse. I started in January and did it for a couple of weeks and then froze up. Now it's time to readdress the issue. It's silly, really, blogging is just talking. Bullshitting. One of the problems was the hit counters. I deleted the daily reports and that's helped tremendously. It's not a good idea to try to write when you feel like absolutely nobody is listening or cares. I need to just throw it out there and pay no attention to whether I have 100 hits a day or 2.

About IM-ing this evening. I think I will be having dinner with my descendants. When I'm under stress I really like having the full catastrophe around me. The birthday party Friday, while stressful to throw together, was actually very relaxing once it was under way. Also Elizabeth called a little while ago and I think the kids may need to see that Chris is ok.

The email that went out Friday:
Chris is in the hospital. He has significant blockage in two arteries, but hasn't had a heart attack and has no heart damage at all. So he's in the hospital now and they are going to put in a stent first thing in the morning. He'll be home by Sunday. He seems very bemused by all the attention.

The email from yesterday (Saturday):
Chris has his stent. The second artery wasn't nearly as bad and they just put a balloon in and opened it up a little. He already looks five years younger. When they wheeled him out of the procedure he was chatting about Windows vs. Linux with the nurse pushing his bed into the CCU. They will release him sometime in the morning and while he can technically go to work on Monday, he'll probably take a couple of days off. Personally, I'd like to see the puncture in his artery (in his groin) healed a little bit more before he strays far from home. I'm probably going to take Monday off too so we can hang out together. We haven't been separated much in the last 8 years and the house has been extremely empty.

We are buying a stationary bicycle and setting fire to every cheeto and corn chip in the house. Probably in reverse order.
