This afternoon animal_co and I went to the city Xeriscape lot to check out the best plants to redo our yard with.  Being in the high plains is tricky, and of course, the city requires you to actually HAVE green in your yard.  Our turf has definitely seen better days, despite my continual work, and just isn't recovering.  So we wandered through the paths, ( Read more... )

Mom and I have landscaped our yard over the past couple years. The daisies have come up and they're nearly three feet high now. Very pretty. In the back yard, we have two spirea bushes that have flowered with little white flowers, two sand cherry trees that had pink flowers earlier and a holly that's growing well. Plus, last year, we planted an herb garden and the oregano is now simply massive. We've got two foot spikes of the stuff now! Later this week, I'll get some of the pics I have together and post them. Good luck on your landscaping! :D

Sounds nice!
I worked on the yard a lot last summer, and found a holly I never knew was there (we've been in the house about 12 yrs!). My transplanted Iris are spreading nicely, with new ones blooming, and my Daylilies seem to do well, but don't spread very fast.
I don't think we'll be adding trees, but will be putting in bushes, (I think I've got a spirea, but not positive) and I'm thinking about herbs. Lavender grows well, and a few others that I can't think of right now. Post the pics - it's always nice to get ideas from others.
