Government Bureaucracy
Yesterday I received a notice that our company (comprised of animal_co and myself) was out of compliance because I had failed to file an Annual Report. Of course, I never got the notice to do so in the first place, or I would have done it.
So I go to the state website to fix this, and find that it is only a verification that we still are running a company under the same name, the address, and my contact information. Which just happens to be the EXACT same information I submitted in December to re-register the same company for the new year.
In fact, if you look at the forms, they are the same, except for the title. One says Corporate Registration, the other says Corporate Annual Report. WTF! If I want to keep doing business in the same state, under the same name, doesn't it follow I did so in the previous year????
The government claims to want to foster small business, but then creates inane red tape and requires us to pay more in taxes than a worker that receives a W-2. So much for entrepreneurial spirit!
