This is in regards to the Torchwood fandom, which is what I mainly read now considering how little navyboys fic we're getting lately, but this is probably a pan-fandom problem.
Sorry about that. The second post was a reaction to my idiotic attempt to provide a sane impartial voice.
The readers are split on this issue, it seems, but the writers seem to be up in arms about it, shouting about how they won't have it, that the mod is trying to control chapter length (and if they bothered to really read the post, they wouldn't be so angry), and that it all means that they'd have to change their writing style.
To which I think (but did not write this bluntly):
1. A lot of them seem like comment whores.
2. A lot of them seem extremely lazy for not bothering to take the time to format headers correctly or can't seem to be bothered to think that maybe some of the changes might improve their writing style.
3. A lot of them read the post and immediately stated their intention to leave the group, waving their metaphorical pitchforks and claiming that all the GREAT writers were leaving the comm. My response would have been that great is being used loosely.
4. A lot of them have absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the reader's flist. On a day I have class or work, I have to wade through four or five posts in different groups about the same stupid fic. Of course, that's not the issue in this comm, but it is related.
There's been a lot of poor writing in Torchwood fandom, imho, and perhaps this will weed some of it out of this comm. I just feel terrible for the poor mod, who was just trying to find a solution to several complaints she'd been receiving.

*shrug* I attempted to be a voice or reason, but that's backfiring so I'm ignoring them all now.

Backfired on me, but that seems to be more due to several peoples' tendency to not really read the whole sentence...
