Hayao Miyazaki

I watched the new Miyazaki film today, "Gake No Ue No Ponyo" (Ponyo On the Cliff, excuse my bad translation), and really liked it. In my summary I'll only tell you what they're showing in the commercials: a red fish-... thing with a little girl's face somehow finds her way to the top of a cliff where a little boy, Sousuke, takes her in. She's adorable and likes to spit in people's faces.
The real reason I'm writing this is to say something I noticed about the film. To be honest, it's hard not to notice, but I wanted to write this down before I forgot.
At a point early on in the movie (probably before the first quarter even finishes, so I wouldn't call this a "spoiler,") it is revealed that Ponyo's actual name is Brünnhilde, as in the one from Wagner's opera, "The Valkyrie."
Much of the music played after that is reminiscent of Wagner's work. I really liked it, but now I need to look up the story behind the Valkyrie and see what exactly it has to do with a little girl-faced fish-thingie.
