Painting - Alla Prima Study #2 Finished
As with the first study, there's probably more I can do to this but I need to move on and reclaim the studio space. Overall, I am really pleased with this painting. I wish, however, that I had not done it on canvas board - it's a cheap board that is already delaminating. I think it may be possible to pull this off its cardboard backing and then glue it onto a wood panel but I'm going to go haunt my usual painting forums and see if anybody's got some advice.
I think I'll probably put some serious thought into the idea of a four seasons themed still-life with skull - something along the same lines as the Vanitas paintings of the 16th century. I need to do a wee bit of research on them because I've been so focused on figure work that I haven't paid much attention to anything else.
Each season will be on its own canvas and I'll definitely use good canvas.
