So there's this girl, Wendy. We've known each other a few months now, but I've been sort of hesitant to mention her to others. You see, I'm not much of a fan of dating over the Internets, so while she and I were talking, it was strictly in a friend capacity. A little while ago, I visited Laura in Chicago and much fun was had, and as a side note, I decided to visit Wendy in real life, so we agreed to meet at a coffee shop in Kenosha and play board games. It went very well. Well enough that I knew I wanted to see her again, but I still felt it was best for use to just consider ourselves internet friends.
The reason I was hesitant to tell many people about her is because you come across as impossibly desperate for human contact if you start bragging about your internet girlfriend, and I've never been one to purposely incite my own ridicule. It's not that I thought less of any of you, but you know how gossip is. 'Girlfriend' and 'Long Distance Girlfriend' can be shared with little ridicule, but someone was definitely going to call me out on an 'Internet Girlfriend'.
Anyway, I was back up again this past weekend, and it went (again) swimmingly. I'm pretty well hooked at this point. I met her folks, think they're fantastic, and I had an unbelievably fun time traipsing around Milwaukee with her. After some talking, we decided that a) this is definitely destined to not be an internet-only thing, and b) we had definitely moved beyond the 'friend' stage.
So, since we've formally codified our relationship as 'Long Distance Boyfriend/Girlfriend', I would be remiss to not let my friends know about her.
She's funny, smart, loves Jesus, sings beautifully, plays multiple instruments, loves kids, and has this undefinable alluring quality to her that makes me just want to crow about her. Also, she's definitely a cutie:
