-November 19: Launch day, I decided I was going to wait until after Christmas to buy a Wii, just in case I got it as a gift.
-November 22: I find out Mark has a Wii; I also find out that my parents find the idea of buying me a Wii for Christmas laughable. This combination makes me decide not to wait.
-November 24: Black Friday. I go to GameStop before it opens to try and get a Wii. I am 25th in line when an employee comes out and says that he only has two systems to sell. I check Target, which is also out. I give up.
-November 26: I go to Best Buy before it opens, having read in their ad that they would have a supply that day. I am 35th in line when an employee comes out and says that he has 30 systems. I check Target, which didn't even get any in that day, but while I'm there I buy a game that's been selling out, in preparation for getting the actual system.
-November 27-30: I call several local stores more-or-less daily to see if they have Wiis. They don't, and sound very tired of hearing that question.
-December 3: Today. I have heard that Target and Best Buy will have big shipments in today, so I want to get there before they open. Unfortunately, as I am back on-campus, this is difficult, as the buses do not run that early. I wake up at 6:30, get ready, and bicycle to Target. I am very cold and very tired. I arrive around 7:20 and stand in line for about 40 minutes, at which point the store opens and I discover that I was 12th in line for 9 systems. A good Samaritan who was next to me in line offers to give me a ride home so that I can avoid the cold ride home and come back at a later time (on a bus) to fetch my bike. On the way back to campus, we decide to stop at other local stores: Best Buy had gotten none at all, the other Target had already sold out their stock of 18, and Circuit City and Toys 'R' Us had lines too long to even bother asking how many systems there were. I give up.
Nintendo, my friends, is against me.
