Cosplay cramming as usual!

Nov 03, 2010 23:51

I'll just leave some slightly disjointed progress reports here. Ha ha! Con's on Saturday and I have much cramming to do (more for my groupmates' remaining costume pieces than for my own.)

Red's backpack, 70% finished. It used to be a plain yellow childrens' backpack (without any of the black stuff on it) and obviously it's been modified with multi-purpose paint, sharpies, polyester and foam boards.

The side pockets, made out of felt, that I luckily found in a shade that was quite close to the backpack itself!

And finally, here's the finished backpack. I couldn't quite make a bag in the exact same style as Red's (I don't think I can make a backpack from scratch...) so I improvised and tried to imitate where all the dark lines were located (like at the top area, I just painted on those lines beneath the half circle to mock the style of Red's actual backpack design, which isn't a zip-up like this one, but is more like a "hatchet" sort of backpack, where you'd have to lift up the top flap to open it, and.. This is getting really hard to explain. Here, have some references.)

And here's the last progress photo that I have. Billie and Janelle went over today and we spent 4 hours styling 3 gravity-defying wigs. Kotone/Lyra's wig, as seen on the blue stool, is one today's successful styling attempts! We're very pleased with how it.. Obeyed in the end, despite refusing to cooperate with the piles and piles of styling products we used on it as we experimented on how to achieve those.. Reverse pigtails. HAHA.

Well, that's about it. See you at UP AME! We are sooo excited!
