Upside down

I'm not dead, just detained by real life. Order is the first thing to go, and so much has happened.

I completed my finals without a hitch (finally, for the last time), and go the kind of grades that I should have gotten throughout college.

Graduation was a sham, the speakers were terrible, and the organization of the event rivaled that of a kindergarden class during recess. Matt made it up, which was awesome-cool. I hope I get to see him again before he gets on the stage-coach and heads out west for the next decade of his life.

Packing and moving was an utter nightmare, but not nearly as bad as dealing with Uhaul, and its half-dozen misquotes, not to mention its trailer with so many safety flaws that it almost killed me, multiple times, on the freeway. Note to self: never use Uhaul ever again, warn friends about them, too. PBS Frontline special report needed.

Never got a chance to meet with professors that I liked, still haven't gotten a chance to send them letters of appreciation. Hopefully I can do that by the end of the month.

I'm now in DC, temporarily living with friends (splitting rent), while I look for a career-track job. No one is hiring, for anything. Even the jobs I can find have several hundred applicants. Unpaid internships seem to be the only things readily available. I refuse to be THAT-soon-to-be-24 year old who has high school students as coworkers.

Hope has been renewed by a meeting with a congressman I had last week. He's offered the assistance of his staff, a recommendation letter, and the internal House intranet job list for my job search.

I hope to find something soon.

Its odd how fast things can turn upside down. I haven't listened to any music in over a month, the internet is rarely used (except in job hunting), knowledge of current events is a shadow of what it once was, and television has suddenly re-emerged as a form of entertainment after five years of not watching any.

The world, its depth and meaning, has narrowed to a single phrase: help wanted.
