The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway

Gift from my Mom. Liked it.

Could definitely relate to being the Old Man (Santiago). Really liked the fierce loyalty of the Boy and how the Boy looked out for the Old Man's welfare.

Enjoyed how the author shows that the Old Man had a full life, with the Old Man reminiscing of many things he had done in his life, while battling the Fish, then fighting the sharks eating the Fish during the sail back home.

Was glad the story has the other fisherman see the body of the Fish, and be able to tell that the Old Man had done a heroic quest, and had won over the Fish, at the ending.

Many fisherman were around the skiff looking at what was lashed beside it and one was in the water, his trousers rolled up, measuring the skeleton with a length of line. The boy did not go down. He had been there before and one of the fishermen was looking after the skiff for him. "How is he?" one of the fishermen shouted. "Sleeping," the boy called. He did not care that they saw him crying. "Let no one disturb him." "He was eighteen feet from nose to tail," the fisher- man who was measuring him called. "I believe it," the boy said.
