The worst is coming home to an empty apartment after a long miserable day.
So, ok, the nice thing about running your own tech department is that you pretty much get to call the shots on how projects get done, what technology you use and you are the only one there who can even understand the problem when something goes wrong...
The downside of running your own shop is that when something out of your control goes very wrong then noone really understands the explaination of what the problem or cares really and there is lots of screaming and carrying on...
The problem with working at a place with kids onsite is that they really frown on you mixing some irish into your coffee when multiple unrelated problems are going wrong with the same thing on registration day. orange gatorade doesnt cut it.
Tommorow drastic measures will be taken.
Step 1:
a can of whopass will be opened on our enterprise support company. they will fix the programming mistakes made in their web server module this the 6th time asking over the last 2 years once and for all or i will drive to arizona and stake their lead programmer out in the desert.
Step 2:
all technical explainations given to staff will be in the form of the following..
"thats not working today because the flux capacitor in the server room is not giving off enough gigawatts, therefore the web modules have been rickrolling the membership database."
Step 3:
the faulty ISA firewall is going thru the window of the verizon tech's van who cant keep my GOD DAMNED T-Line operational while i am evaluating web issues. The sonic firewall will be taking its place, and rigged to explode if anyone touches it.
