I just finished reading The Saskiad by Brian Hall. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It used a stream of consciousness style that gave it enough light-heartedness to underscore a story that had vividly emotional moments. No sentimentality, though. It was a coming of age story that was devoid of artificial sweeteners. It simply told the story through the honest perspective of its heroine, without condescending exposition about what was 'really' happening. Nice.
I enjoyed reading a book that could never properly be made into a movie. I don't read enough of those. I think I read too long today, though, as my vision is all furry.
