HALLELUJAH

At a recent live set at the Somerville Theatre, as part of U2’s 360 º Tour, in Boston Bono was asked what song by another artist he wished he'd written.  He immediately answered Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah”, describing it as "extraordinary". He went on saying that Cohen's latest tour was the greatest show he has seen, and that Cohen and Bob Dylan are fighting it out for the title of greatest songwriter on earth.

Bono also expressed the same sentiment about “Hallelujah” in the excellent documentary about Leonard Cohen’s life “I’m Your Man” released a couple of years ago.

The songs of Cohen and Dylan were the anthems of my youth and time has caught up with us all. Below is a clip of Rufus Wainwright singing “Hallelujah”. It’s a great cover version of one of the greatest songs of all time.
