So I'm working out. And though that in and of itself is rather remarkable, considering my track history with staying committed to things, I'm doing it in a really fun way. I'm sticking to solely doing aerobic exercises, on a daily basis, for at least 20 minutes. I want to drop a lot of weight before I start hitting machines and trying to tone and do muscle health, and aerobics will help strengthen a lot more than weight training will right now.
But I'm also doing something pretty fun with it. I've always liked Dance Dance Revolution as a means of aerobic exercise. It gets you moving your body and it gets your heart rate up, but the only problem is that it isn't consecutive minutes, and that, according to have I've read and been told by doctors, is the best way to burn calories and get your heart in shape. So what I'm doing at home is using moves from Dance Dance Revolution in my personalized aerobic routine. I've currently got things like "The Crossover" and "The gallop" and "The Mobius Step" in my routines, doing it for 16-24 bars of the song that I'm listening to while I'm working out with one leg and the same with the other. I'm also planning on adding in an "Afronova Step" and a "Jump turn" to make thing sinteresting. Then I'll start to do things like mix it up. Crossover for 8 bars, Jump Turn for 8 bars, back to crossover, switch to mobius step, gallop it out, walk it out.
Then I've got these knee lifts that I do, where I'll raise my arms up, pull my knees to 90 degree angles, while I crunch my stomach into my knees, and do that back and forth for a while. It's tiring, but highly effective.
And of course there's the age old staple of walking in place that I do as well. Most of this I was doing to 150 bpm music, but I've accelerated up to 170 bmp now. Using the "Ultimate Happy Hardcore album" as a soundtrack. Just 4 tracks on that album compilation of 6 different albums makes for 20 minutes and they're all mixed together so there's no risk or danger of the beat changing suddendly or me losing count or consistency with my heart rate.
All very interesting stuff, from my point of view. Oh well I've procrastinated enough. Time to get working out.
