I thought that I was going to be doing better at this - seems I lied quite a bit!
Right, what have I been doing for the last two years? Stuff. and things. I'm almost two years older, for a start. In fact, I'm 30 on Thursday. Less than a week of my twenties left. This does not bode well. Turning thirty does have its benefits, though. Last month, I was asked by the Bishop of St Asaph to consider taking on the role of Deputy Diocesan Registrar and Bishop's Legal Secretary, which I agreed to. You have to be thirty to take on the role, so I am going to be officially appointed on 28th June. My first twelve months is meant to be a kind of training contract with the current Diocesan Registrar, who has been doing the job for over 36 years. This may not happen, though, as he's just being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and is beginning his radiotherapy on Wednesday. I wish him the best, of course. He's a great bloke and, on a selfish note, I could really do with his help as the role of Registrar is more than a little specialist - there are only 6 in Wales!!
The best thing is that the role is stipendary - the Church pays!! It won't do so this year, as I'm only a Deputy. If I get appointed as the Registrar in 12 months, I will be going down to part time with my current employers and part time as Registrar, and I will be quite a bit better off (I hope!!).
The first thing I have to do as a Registrar is the Ordination service on the 26th June. I will be in my usual choir dress, but with a wig! I'm going to look like a proper tranny in a dress and a wig! I can't wait!!
In other news, my mother got married. In fact, she and Brian have just celebrated their first wedding anniversary - they spent it in America, having gone over there as Brian's son, daughter-in-law and new grand-daughter for a few months with Tjeerd's job. In fact, since they got married they have been to Tenerife, Madeira, New Zealand and America. Spending Kids Inheritance doesn't even come close!! They both deserve it, mind, so I am not in any way envious or bitter!!
My brother went travelling and spent almost twelve months in New Zealand. He is currently in the process of travelling home, having stopped off in the Philippines, is currently in Vietnam, will shortly be going to Thailand before heading to South Africa, where he will be watching the World Cup match between Brazil and Portugal. Alright for some, isn't it!!
My sister is still living in Russia, my step-sister is still living in the Netherlands, my other step-sister has moved to Rome (or at least is in the process of doing so) and I am still doing what I was doing this time two years ago. I live 60 miles away, and am not only the one who lives closest to home, but work 5 miles from my home town, and have just taken a role that will keep me there for the foreseeable future!! Hurrah!!
Right, that's enough from me for now. I can't be bothered to write any more. Besides,
lidbert has pretty much said everything else in her blogs. See you in a couple of years!!
