One more thing... completely unrelated to anything, but can some of you suggest some really good short story authors? Or specific short stories?
I'm trying to find some stuff to (illegitimately) read at work. I've been slowly making my way through a 600-some page interview with Fidel Castro, which has been fascinating, but I'm really craving some short, profound fictional literature right now. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable in that field... I don't know what to look for. A friend of mine recommended Philip K. Dick a while back, so I think I'll be looking into him. I also want to take a look at some of Salinger's and Kafka's short stories. And didn't Lovecraft do short stores? If so, I want to read some of those, too.
So... if anyone with more knowledge than me has anything to recommend, I'd appreciate it. And since I don't really know how to get to the libraries around here, I would also be grateful if someone could suggest a good place to find these short stories online... I imagine Project Gutenberg might have some of them, but it certainly won't have all (you know, legal issues and all that...).
