On Fighting and Exercise

You know, I think I could use a fight about now. Really. Not necessarily to seriously injure anyone... it could be with foam-covered PVC weapons for all I care, and in fact it would probably be preferable to not have to deal with medical bills afterward. But it's the principle of the matter: I haven't been able to really exert any stress in a long ( Read more... )

Interesting take on this.

I don't know about physical fighting-ish things you could do, but I will say that, for me, Smash has always worked out as a rather good aggression/stress letter-outer, assuming I have an opponent of approximately equal skill so that we can both go all out on each other. Alternately, Oni works pretty well, given that you basically run around killing bad guys with your bare hands. Dunno if video games work as well for this sort of thing for you, though, nor how easily you could get a good Smash partner.*

Heh, I just realized: you could start yourself a Fight Club. :p

*Technically, you can probably contact the tournament-going Smash community in your area easily enough via http://www.smashboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=b1e2856cce55e682cbe88da958129a2f&f=89 . Not to be rude, but there's a good chance that most of the people you'd meet that way would be better than you at first, but they'd probably be willing to help you get to their levels pretty quickly, at which point you'd be set.

Smash with other players can be a pretty good reliever, but you do need the other players of equal skill.
And holy crap! Didn't know there was a board that big dedicated to Smash Bros tournaments. They would definitely be better than me (I'm usually kind of terrible) but it would be fun nonetheless. I'd probably need to hold off until I had a car or something, but it could be fun.

I keep forgetting to find Oni. I need to look into getting it... it's old, but I remember it being very fun.

And I actually identified a lot with the Fight Club style of support grouping. :p

By the way, any news on the Peace Corps?
