Except he didn't because a good hero is always aware of his surroundings, and he totally intended on having it unfold like this, because he's amazing. "Ah, hello again! Now I am able to see this trick in person."

Well, that made things simpler-- not having to keep an eye on the camera positioning and such. Phale turned and offered the hat with a flourish, showing again that there was nothing inside of it. A wave of his hand beneath it showed there was no trickery involved there, either.
"And-- er, abra-cadabra and all..."
Reaching into the hat, the angel pulled out a rather squashed and green-looking rabbit.
Caught on his hind foot, voila-- the black felt circle that had previously concealed the poor beastie from view. Phale, of course, looked mildly mortified.
