For the first time, Casper joined his paternal side relatives during the Qing Ming Festival
The hallmark activity of Qing Ming is tending to the graves of departed loved ones
With a schedule of three stops and lots of things to prepare as offerings
The six of them piled themselves into a spacious seven-seater MPV with one seat taken up by things
The first stop was the Lim Chu Kang Chinese Cemetary
The main road outside the cemetary was busy with traffic
Casper and his relatives had to spend some time getting in
At his paternal grandmother's grave, his aunties duly announced to her his long-awaited presence
They removed weeds, made food offerings, lit joss sticks and burnt paper offerings
The weather was very pleasant as it was overcast with a cool breeze
Casper was looking all around him as the place gave him a curious mix of feelings
The wide open vista with medium-height trees far and few between was smokey with ash particles
The scenery coloured grey from both smoke and the thick blanket of clouds
It looked like something out of an old VHS tape recording
He wanted to take pictures as he brought his camera along but was not sure if it was permitted
Just as the clouds gave way and unleashed the first rain drops
They were done and packing things up to return to the car for the next stop
