Maybe these organizations need to be reminded and given a list of all the high holidays of the major world religions. If they're a progressive group, I'm sure it was just a forgetful mistake and they'll cooperate and reschedule.

well the high holidays are in the calendar and they're quite google-able. and many of these groups knew it was a holiday and booked anyway. or when i point it out they ask me to send them a list---do i look like google? i'm just sick of doing people's work for them.

you look a little like google to me (google is a small furry transsexual pans-ivist is the title of my next zine)/you could send them spam, they seem to read that/oh yeah, i don't usually admit to reading people's ljs.

what happens that involves humans and not shul on yom kippur? is it wrong to want to break the fast with people if, say, you aren't fasting?

i love to go to breaking the fast things and pretend that i fasted all day. cause the food is good and i'd rather live with the guilt of eating on yom kippur and lying than with the dirty looks for not fasting.

Cosigned. I tried to volunteer at a rape crisis centre a few years ago, and couldn't because a bunch of their mandatory trainings were on the high holidays.
