Ice Box Episode 1: “Continuing Drama”

May 26, 2007 23:29

Edward BoJangles, a successful entertainer who sings about his past days in the high school marching band, has had a lot of dramatic experiences in the past few years coming back home. He has seen his ups and downs. Friends have been by his side and friends have betrayed him. Some have even gone to extreme lengths just so he would love them. Fame is such a fickle thing, Edward once found himself fading away from the lime light, which is what he wanted, for the time being. Now he’s seeing he can’t live without it. Being a celebrity across the nation is what he wants; however, he doesn’t see how much of a celebrity he can be to one small town in Pennsylvania.

Edward is at home, writing down lyrics to his third album. His second album did not so well in the terms of success, but his small town seemed to love his work. They invited him to once again perform at Kane Fest, the small town fair. Edward is pressured to finish these songs in time for the fair in July. He only has a few months to finish and be able to put on a better show than two years previous. At his last concert for the town he shocked them with the news he was going to Clarion University; however, his plans have fallen through. He has put his long life dreams of becoming a teacher to pursue an entertaining job professing his love about music. His friends have gone to college and are graduated. Elizabeth has graduated from Mansfield University with a degree in criminal justice. She has come back from college and is interested in joining the Kane Area Police Department. She and Edward have not taken a walk in almost two years. Edward has focused so much of his time to his career it has kept him busy, like wise Elizabeth has become very busy with her schooling and career. Belle, a young mother, has graduated from beauty school and now works with health services providing care for families who have children with special needs, and also maintains her own beauty shop at home on the weekends. Kate has given up on her dreams of becoming a teacher as well; she dropped out of college and now focuses on being a missionary across the area speaking at local churches. Bradley, who had a crush on Edward has given up on making Edward love him and has turned over a new leaf. Bradley has just completed his third year of school to study international business. This fall he plans to go overseas to get an internship.  Thomas and Victoria have broken up for the time being since Victoria found out Thomas had cheated on her while being away at school before Victoria could go to college with him. This was after a brief engagement and Victoria is still upset with Thomas. Many of his other friends have had their fair share of drama without Edward in their lives. Most of them have moved on and never see him again.

As Edward continues to write down lyrics for his new album, he recalls a time when his friends were around. All the memories, new faces, new fans he’s had over the years, nothing compares to his old friends and memories from band. He has a plan to get everyone back together and let him know he’s still there for them. He begins to come up with an idea to do just that. He wants the good old days to come back and have fun. He sends out a bulk e-mail to all of his friends. The e-mail reads, “Dear Friends, It has come to my attention that it has been a very long time since we have seen each other. To be honest, it has been far too long. I miss the memories of the times we all had fun and hope we can create many more memories in the years to come, by starting as soon as possible with a party in honor of you. To all my friends, you are hereby invited to a party at my home, the old Kane Manor, this Saturday at 6 o’clock. A feast in your honor will be had and you are all eagerly invited! Feel free to bring as many friends as possible. Saturday will be a time for friendships, new and old. See you then. Edward.”

Edward awaits the big night, hoping everyone will attend. He decides to go shopping looking for new clothes to wear to the occasion. Edward cannot wait, he and the rest of the town are in for a big night!
