More thinking man vs non-thinking man

Jul 18, 2009 16:56

Two men decide to build houses.
The thinking man builds his house of timber, stone, and cement, taking time in preparation to ensure a solid dwelling.
The non-thinking man builds his house of sticks and rocks which he finds around his site, and does so with careless haste.

Both live in their houses for a period of time, each house serving as a safe haven from the elements outside.

One day a storm approaches bringing with it heavy rains and strong winds.
The thinking mans house withstands the barrage, and is untouched.
The non-thinking mans house is blown to pieces and left in complete ruin.

Laying in bed that evening, the non-thinking man envies the thinking mans preparation, and his warmth and protection from the cold.
The thinking man envies the non-thinking mans view of the stars.
