Room 236: Sunday afternoon

Parker had locked up 234 carefully, put on some bouncy but not *childish*, thank you, music; and made sure anything breakable was in her bedroom, before going back to lift Esme out of her habitat so Aly could see her closer. "Here you go. Esme, Aly. Aly? Esme."

Aly bounced with excitement as Parker showed her Esme. "She's a pretty bunny. I think she likes me!" she said as she reached out to touch Esme's ear with one finger.

Esme's ear twitched, and she hopped over to Aly when Parker put her down. "Remember what we said. Gentle." She grinned, and pulled out the carrots she'd gotten from the fridge. "She likes to nibble on these."

"I know!" Aly protested. "Gotta be gentle."

She held her hands out for the bunny and picked her up very, very carefully. "Hi Esme."

Esme wiggled her nose and snuggled in, and Parker grinned, sitting back on her heels. "She likes it when you scratch her neck. I've had her for a year now, my friend Zero gave her to me. Jaye named her Esmerelda."

Aly scratched her neck carefully. "Esmerelda is a pretty name. Prettier 'n my name."

"I think Alianne is pretty. I like it better than my name, anyway." Althought that had more to do with her mom, than anything else. "Esmerelda Caramel."

"I like Parkie!" Aly said, still cuddling the bunny.

Parker rolled her eyes. "Ahem. Thanks." Daddy was so going to hear about that at some point. "Now if I could find Glitter, you could play hide-and-seek with her and Esme."

"Glitter?" Aly asked. "Who's Glitter?"

"Glitter is Esme's stuffed bunny. She's gold and she has sparkly yellow eyes." Parker looked around, mildly irritated. "I think she hid her and forgot where she put her, because I can't find her."

Aly nodded wide-eyed and said nothing.

"Anyway." Parker reached over and retrieved one of Esme's squeaky balls, and put it in front of her to bounce on. "She's got a lot of toys. And her whole habitat to play in the tunnels and hidey-holes that Sam set up."

"Are you going to eat her?" Aly asked, letting Esme play with the ball. The question didn't seem to phase Aly too much.

Parker's eyebrows rose, but having been to Tortall, this didn't throw her off *too* badly. "No, she's just a pet bunny. She's not big enough to be good to eat anyway. And I love her too much."

Aly nodded. "She's too cute to eat too. It would be kinda sad. 'specially if she didn't taste good."

Parker cracked up. "Kind of a waste, hunh? I might as well keep her to play with."
