Who's going to drive Dave, then?

Nadia got to the causeway exactly on time, her guitar over her good shoulder.

It was probably cold enough out that she didn't need an ice pack.

"Load up!" Parker made a face at the Dave-smell when the doors opened. "You know I'd never ask you to sleep in this, right?"

"Good to know, and I appreciate it. Though I've slept in worse places, so it's not really something I'm worried about."

La La's Voo Doo Lounge - Wheeling, VA - 9pm mparkerceo December 9 2006, 22:13:50 UTC
The crowd at the bar wasn't rowdy, although they were pretty friendly.

Some of them might be wearing Galaxy Quest uniforms, too.

The bartender is looking surly.

Pippi is setting up her drum kit and complementing people on their uniforms.

What? She likes people in uniforms.

Parker blinked around the bar, and rolled her eyes. "Well, now I know why all the hotels were booked."

Tom Farrel, rep for True Vinyl Records, was hanging out at the bar, waiting on the main event of the night.

Teal Dear's sound was good on the CD their manager had sent him; and he'd at least heard of the bandleader. Time to see if they'd like a shot at stardom.

"Mr. Farrell? Parker. We spoke on the phone." Parker held out her hand to him, and put on her best smile as she took her seat at the bar. "I'm so glad you could make it."

"Hey, Miss Parker. Thanks for the invite." He looked around the bar and grinned. "Is this the usual Teal Dear crowd?"

"Um, no." Parker resisted the urge to facepalm. "I'm not sure we have a usual crowd. Although we do have a following. I'm sure you've seen the website."

And she hadn't even had to mock up some of those comments. Flitzy and her friends even said they might show up tonight.

I, saw zombies kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night
They didn't hear the click
The gun case lock that I did pick
To grab a shot gun and some shells
'Cause Zombies make me sick!

I, saw zombies kissing Santa Claus
Though it turns out they weren't k-i-s-s-ing at allllll.
They were feasting on his brain
They tried but it couldn't refrain
Zombies eating Santa Clause last night!

Jack would have agreed about not wanting to hear long stories. All he wanted was a beer. As he waited for it to be put in front of him, his gaze drifted down the bar and stopped dead.

WTF?

Suddenly he wanted something a lot stronger than beer. Maybe the whole bottle.

"Something with alcohol," Parker told the bartender. Then she head-barred. "Damnit. Diet Coke. I'm driving."
