Talk to Tom the Record ExecmparkerceoDecember 9 2006, 22:17:55 UTC
Tom Farrel, rep for True Vinyl Records, was hanging out at the bar, waiting on the main event of the night.
Teal Dear's sound was good on the CD their manager had sent him; and he'd at least heard of the bandleader. Time to see if they'd like a shot at stardom.

"Mr. Farrell? Parker. We spoke on the phone." Parker held out her hand to him, and put on her best smile as she took her seat at the bar. "I'm so glad you could make it."
Re: Talk to Tom the Record ExecmparkerceoDecember 9 2006, 23:32:36 UTC
"Um, no." Parker resisted the urge to facepalm. "I'm not sure we have a usual crowd. Although we do have a following. I'm sure you've seen the website."
And she hadn't even had to mock up some of those comments. Flitzy and her friends even said they might show up tonight.

"I'll stick with the Diet Coke. Thanks, though." Parker crossed her ankles and tried to look professional; hey, he evidently thought she was in her twenties. No problem. "So, what kind of promotions for new bands does True Vinyl do?"
Re: Talk to Tom the Record Execswerval_zeroDecember 10 2006, 00:06:54 UTC
"Are you the record guy?" Zero asked. Before he could answer, she charged on ahead. "Here's the swoo. We're not changing our name, we're not changing our look, an' we're not changing our sound. And if you represent those MmmBop kids I'm out the door before we even play, capische?"
Re: Talk to Tom the Record ExecmparkerceoDecember 10 2006, 00:15:32 UTC
"The name is cool, the look is unique, and the sound is why I'm here." Tom grinned at Zero, and held out his hand. "Tom Farrell, Top Vinyl. You have to be Skank Hopeless-Savage."
Re: Talk to Tom the Record Execswerval_zeroDecember 10 2006, 00:30:30 UTC
"Yeah, but I had to leave the D-Bunnies after I came to Fandom. It wasn't fair to the group," Zero said. "These guys are good, but they're a completely different style. Don't go thinkin' they're gonna be Emma an' Toby an' Flora. 'Cause they're not. We're more...multicultural, now."
Re: Talk to Tom the Record ExecmparkerceoDecember 10 2006, 00:34:33 UTC
Tom studied Zero a second, then nodded judiciously. "Okay. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you still in high school? If we sign you guys, can you keep up the commitments?"
Re: Talk to Tom the Record ExecmparkerceoDecember 10 2006, 00:50:44 UTC
Tom folded his arms, and leaned against the bar. "I'll be honest, I think your band could really make it. And we'd love to sign you. But we're a little wary about the arrest last month. We're a small company, we don't have a ton of liability to absorb property damages and jail terms. That's not going to be a habit, is it? Parker assured me it wasn't typical, and it didn't sound like it was the band's fault, but...."
Re: Talk to Tom the Record Execswerval_zeroDecember 10 2006, 00:52:50 UTC
"That was fully not our fault an' all charges were dropped. The bikers that started the fight were known trouble-makers, and, c'mon, it didn't even make MTV news like shutting up now," Zero wrapped up before she could finish that thought.
