She sent a text to her friends - I got third row tickets and you don't, NEENER - And settled in to wait for the beginning of Men's Water Polo.

Isabel was working. At the job she was lucky to still have. Disappearing without notice for a week does not exactly endear you to your boss.

I'm jealous. We're dealing with the damned taped delay. Think you can get the brain trust to take over NBC?

She sent the photo of Prince Harry, a couple of the crowds, one of the men's team (YUM).

The pictures were enjoyable. Sadly Isabel didn't have any similar to send back. Somehow Parker wouldn't appreciate pictures of the burly banquet set-up crew.

Definitely the greater good. Have them check out Twitter. They'll see.

Which was why it was good Parker had dragged him here, if he was gonna bitch about it.

A couple hours later, in a cafe in between stadiums, Parker called.

"Go Team USA!"

"You are way to revved about this," Isabel laughed. "Having fun?"

"Far too much," Parker confirmed. "The geeks are getting their sports statistics nerd on, I'm here for the eye-candy, Jarod apparently needs to see the Judo finals, so he's here too." She grinned. "You can always fly out, it's got weeks left," she teased.

"I'd be tempted," she admitted. There was a whole lot of eye candy judging by what she saw on TV. "If I didn't just lose a week of my life to Fandom. At this rate I'll be lucky if my boss gives me time off for my honeymoon."

"A week?" Parker's voice spirals upward. "What the hell happened?"

"Another adventure in alternative universes apparently," Isabel explained. "On a scale of one to ten I'd rate it about a six on the personal trauma scale."

"Crap. Where did the vampire thing that happened fall?" Parker demanded, trying to get a read on Isabel's mood.

"Doesn't really rate since I only heard about it second hand from Savannah." And wow was Isabel eternally grateful for that. That life sounded way too sad.

"Let's put it this way? I'd rate the whole kidnapping thing a few years ago as a 12."

"But then again, I didn't know you in this particular variation of the multiverse, so maybe I should up the number." The fact that she was joking should give Parker a decent enough read on her mood.

"There was no me? That definitely at least makes it an 8," Parker informed her, trying to sound miffed. "Okay, so what craziness was going on in this variation? Zombies? Aliens? Robots? Zombie-alien-robots?"

[izzyalienqueen]

"Don't knock aliens. We're just looking for a place to call home," she teased. "It was worse. It was that insane pink witch that took over for a while when Principal Winchester was out on maternity leave. Except this time she didn't leave. Anakin was killed, Zoe and anyone else that was a threat to her to locked up."

"It wasn't pleasant. At all." The memories of life before the previous week had faded some, but Isabel could still say that with certainty.

Parker snorted. Then cringed. "Never ran into her, thank God I'd already graduated by then. Smart to take out Skywalker first, give her that, but that had to be nightmarish." She frowned. "You weren't locked up, were you?" she asked, concerned.
