Zone near Red Square, 3 pm local time / E-mails from Moscow

They were eating ice cream on a bench near Red Square, sunglasses on. Just watching the passersby.

"So, Saturday night, yes?" Casimir looked at her over his shades. "Since you will be leaving on Tuesday."

"Maybe." Parker licked her cone. "Maybe not."

Which was when the two men in dark suits, dark shades, and dark expressions arrived.

"Casimir Lechensky?"

Casimir tensed, but didn't move, or stand up. "//Perhaps. Who is asking?//"

"//Moskova Metropolitan Policia,//" one of them said, holding out a badge and ID. "//Could you please come with us?//"

"//Why?//" Casimir reached out for Parker, laying a hand on her elbow. Parker didn't shrug it off, just watched him with a blank expression. "//What is the meaning of this?//"

The one who'd spoken before looked at Parker, then rolled his eyes. "//You are being questioned in the kidnapping of Oskar Simenko. We believe you have information that will help us with our investigation.//" There was no threat there. There didn't have to be, as one of the men moved to flank Casimir, and the other moved to the other side of Parker. "//You will come with us.//"

"//I have no idea what you're talking about. I was with my girlfriend all Monday afternoon, and know nothing of this. Parker, tell them.//" Casimir wasn't looking at her, or he'd have kept his mouth shut.

"//That is true, officers. We were at the park all Monday.//" She turned to look at Casimir. "//Why don't you show them your laptop? That can give you an alibi as well. All those time-stamped files.//"

Casimir stilled, then turned his head to look at her.

Parker smiled sweetly.

For a second, Casimir looked furious, then he laughed, shaking his head, and slowly got to his feet. "//Very well, officers. Let us go and discuss this unpleasant business further.//" He studied Parker thoughtfully. "I will see you before you leave."

"If you say so." Parker bit into her cone, already looking out over the park again. "Have fun with Boris, Boris, and Boris."

When he was out of sight, she threw away the cone.

Soooo, Casimir's 'helping police with their inquiries.' No, I don't want to talk about it. Yes, I know why. Yes, he's guilty. I may have something to do with why they're talking to him. I'll see you most of you guys soon enough to give you details next week, and I won't be so pissed off. Better to explain then.

Daddy still hasn't figured out who informed the press of Centre plans for oil drilling in Kamchatka. Angelo's narrowed it down for me, but there's still nothing I can do about stopping Daddy from taking action on that front.

I'm not actually going to miss Moscow, I've decided.

Anyway. I'll see those of you in Fandom soon-- dinner in D.C., next week, sound good to you guys? I'm buying.

RE: Toads

You rock. As soon as I know what cellblock he's going to be in, I'll let you know. And yeah, I'll send you the same stuff I sent Xander. And tell him to stop stressing, when I see him next week, and pass along the message from you.

For the rest of it? You're lucky you got away just needing a shower!
