  1. australia:
Last summer I traveled, on my own, to the U.K. While I was there I met Kathy, who is an Australian from Brisbane and we instantly hit it off. We spent the whole trip together. Now, one year later, we still e-mail each other almost daily. I consider her one of my best friends, even though we are so far away from one another. I've taught her so much about Canada and she's taught me so much about Australia. I now consider it my adopted nation. I plan to travel there one day. Plus, they have great accents.
  2. deadwood:
This is the show on HBO, the crazy western one. In true HBO fashion the show has plenty of explicit violence, sex and swearing. It's been the best show since "Oz", in my opnion. I love historical epics, so the fact that it's in television format is kickass. Seeing as I live in Canada and don't get HBO I'm very happy to know that the second season DVD is coming the mail sometime next week. It's such a fantastic show.
  3. fiddler on the roof:
I only recently saw the original 1971 Norman Jewison film of this musical and I really enjoyed it. It's one of the few famous musicals that I hadn't seen until recently. I heard that it was on Broadway in New York for awhile (with Canadian talent, Michael Therriault) and I would have loved to have seen it.
  4. great gatsby:
This is one of my all-time favourite novels. I actually saw the Robert Redford film version first. Then we read the book in school and I thought it was all so intriguing...all these rich people moping around. It has a little bit of everything...crime, murder, comedy and romance.
  5. italy:
My dad was born in a small village in Calabria, so it's a part of my heritage. Plus, it's beautiful! I've always wanted to go to Rome most specifically, considering I've studied ancient Rome in school. I'd love to see the Coliseum and the Spanish Steps. It's just a nation so full of history.
  6. mark wahlberg:
I know he's not exactly the world's greatest actor but he's hot. Plus, a couple years ago I got to meet him at the Toronto Film Festival while he was promoting "I Heart Huckabees". He spent well over an hour signing autographs and posing for pictures, including one with me. It was one of my favourite celebrity-sighting moments.
  7. oz:
This is the other HBO show that I love, along with "Deadwood". It's basically a prison drama and is full of violence, sex and swearing, in typical HBO fashion. Even though it's no longer on, I still love it when I catch an episode on t.v. And to prove that I'm such a fangirl, I even went to a convention here in Toronto and got to meet Lee Tergensen (Tobias Beecher) and Dean Winters (Ryan O'Reilly).
  8. sarah jessica parker:
I never used to pay much attention to her. I always did love her husband, Matthew Broderick, though. ;) Anyway, this year I got hooked on "Sex and the City" and now I adore her. Simple as that.
  9. theatre:
I love watching plays. I went to the Stratford Festival and saw "Macbeth" one summer. I've also seen: The Secret Garden, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat, Les Miserables, The Producers, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and, most recently, The Lord of the Rings. Now, I have tickets to Spamalot in July. I just love the experience of hearing music and watching actors perform live. There is just something about it that I can't explain.
  10. west side story:
One of my all-time favourite movie musicals. I love the songs, the dance, and the fact that it is essentially the story of Romeo and Juliet. Plus, the beautiful and talented Natalie Wood is in it.
