Cleaning soft toys

Jul 16, 2009 01:30

I have a rather old, and very smelly soft toy.  I want to clean him, but I would be devastated if he was damaged or ruined (really, very upset, Leo was what I cuddled and hid with when all of that happened when I was young).  So does anyone have tips on cleaning?  I've looked through the internet, and a lot of places say putting them in the washing machine is fine, but at 30 years old, his label's long since faded, so I don't know what he's made from and if he can washed.

He's not a small toy, but is very, very smelly.
