Is that it? Am I finished? All three essays are written-the historical one actually was the hardest, assembling my facts into a coherent argument, correctly cited-and I've edited everything into something I'm not terribly ashamed of. I can say, as comfortably as I can ever say this, that I've done my best. But, because I'm me, I wonder if I should try starting each essay over once more, in my usual editing pattern of completely re-writing each draft (which is not as time-consuming as you'd think, honestly, particularly with cutting and pasting). I have forty more hours until they're due. Count driving to school, photocopying them and turning them in, that's 39 hours. Count two nights' sleep, that's (39-16...) 23 more hours. At my usual 45 minutes per page, since these would be third drafts, I could re-write... (23*60 / 45...) only 30 more pages. Okay, that's not enough. I have currently (10.5 + 13.5 + 16) 40 pages of prose, so with 23 hours to go, assuming no real breaks-hah, as if-I'd only get 30 minutes per page. Okay, that settles it, I'm not doing third drafts.
Phew. (Welcome to my thought process.)
God, I'll be so glad to get back to normal life after this. It hasn't been fun. It hasn't been hard, per se, but spending a week doing NOTHING BUT WRITING has been kind of dull. I've probably put on a couple pounds, since (1) sitting (2) at home (3) thinking and (4) being frustrated has meant lots of bad eating choices and not a lot of moving. Tomorrow I'll walk for a while around campus, and that'll be nice.
Hey girls, a question: what do you do for exercise gear? I'm comfortable moving in spandex shorts and stretchy cotton tank tops, but I look (honestly) kind of gross and blobby, and with the whether still a little on the cool side every now and then (and later on with all the sun we get), I should probably have more coverage. What do you wear for working out? Does it change for indoor/outdoor? What about shoes? How much money would you say you spend on workout clothes?
alexandra the academic,
the hardest thing i've ever done
