1. My friend who was in a bad bicycle accident last weekend seems to be surprising even her doctors as to how well she's doing already. I'm getting lots of updates and trying to stay out of the way for now until she feels up to more visitors.
2. Just got an email from Amazon saying that the price of the True Grit BluRay, which I'd pre-ordered about a month ago, was actually $10 less than what I'd initially ordered it as.
3. DeepDiscountDVD.com is evil. They're doing their Summer Sale right now. (Anyone know what version(s) of the original Star Wars trilogy they've released this time? The BluRays are a good deal--$43.69--but I'd not want to spend the money if I'm going to want to throw things while watching them.) (Dude, TOS Star Trek on BluRay for $148! Which is tempting when you consider how freaking expensive these are, but how gorgeous the remasters are, as well.)
4. I'm getting excited about Torchwood and seeing what they do with it this season.
5.
Release date on The Lone Ranger in 2012. As the article points out, it should be a pretty busy December that year.
6.
Paul Walker to be in Terminator 5. Maybe.
7. Kisses to Steven Moffat.
Oh, wow. Did NOT see that coming. Not sure how two of the whitest people in Great Britain would produce someone who looks like River, but it sounds like she also might be part TARDIS, so I think the normal rules of genetics do not apply.
I love so much about this. I love how we see how much Amy still loves the Doctor, her lifelong, sometimes-imaginary friend, but that ultimately, she really does love Rory in the way she should, in the way he deserves. I love that Rory would do anything for her. I love that Rory, not the Doctor, is in so many ways, the "good man" of the title.
I love the Doctor's "A good man doesn't need rules...Don't make me show you why I have so many," line. I love that "Doctor" became synonymous with "great warrior," no matter what the Doctor himself says he is.
I love River. I just do.
8. White Collar is giving me seriously thinky thoughts, which is not normal. May do a separate post about that.
9. Jon Stewart remains my number one TV boyfriend.
10. I am taking off Monday, as it is my birthday, which leaves only the question: What to do? Go to the zoo and see the new baby ocelots? Go to the movies and maybe finally see Priest (if I can still find it anywhere) or see X-Men: First Class again? Or stay at home in my PJs, ignore all my emails to avoid any possible trauma, and be completely, utterly LAZY?
Recs of the Day:
H50:
Breath of Life--From the hugfest, this one is set after the season finale.
This Muddle as a Picture--Another aftermath of a close call. I loved Danny's voice on this one.
Book Rec of the Day:
The Devil in the White City--I know most people have read this, but I still think it's a brilliant history lesson on both the wonder that was the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 and the simultaneous horror that was H.H. Holmes and his crimes.
Photo of the Day:
I apparently took a picture of this statue from at least four different angles, and it looks different from every one.
Incidentally, all the photos I've been posting are still from Cave Hill National Cemetery in Louisville.
