* I, like everyone else, have been thinking about Mandela. I can't say what I'm doing, though, is mourning.
I remember being a kid and learning what apartheid was while learning about Nelson Mandela. He'd already been in prison for nearly 20 years at that point, something I couldn't even fathom. I remember it being announced, when he was 70, that he had TB and the assumption/fear (both from his supporters and the South African government) was he would die in prison.
And he didn't.
I made a comment on Twitter yesterday that not many people could say that they quite seriously changed the world. He not only was able to change the world, he lived to run the country which imprisoned him and see the good that he was able to achieve.
We're less without him; we are more because of him.
* On much less world-shaking news: my goal this weekend is to get my Yuletide story to betas. Which means I have to get it in a much less rough shape than I left it last weekend. We shall see.

Bryan Singer--sortof--announced the next X-Men movie. If it actually happens, this should mean Cable will appear, which makes me unbelievably happy.
* Empire had a reader's choice list this morning of
30 Best Christmas Movies of All Time. Keeping firmly in mind that lists are subjective BS, I wonder at their readers. First of all, the live action Grinch is on there, but not the animated. Second, The Ref is nowhere in site. And while I love Brazil, it is not something that ever occurred to me to classify as a "Christmas movie," no matter when it's set.
So, my own list of some of my favorite favorite holiday movies, as is my wont to post this time of year, in no particular order:
Holiday
White Christmas
While You Were Sleeping
The Ref
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
The Lion in Winter
Dead Snow
* Much better a list from Empire this morning is the
20 Best Set-Pieces of 2013. Bless them for including the "car chase" from White House Down, as it was hilarious.
* REC!
Teen Wolf:
Support Systems--Post Season 3A (slightly canon-divergent regarding which characters are present) and post-reveal to Sheriff Stilinski in regards to what his son and his friends have been up to. It's from Papa S.'s POV, and it really is about how he's dealing with the thought that his son runs with wolves. Wonderful character stuff and relationship between him and Stiles, as well as the other parents on the show.
