The weekend was sparkly

* Some good stuff this weekend. I'm not that concerned about the Pens losing the first game of the series to the Bruins, though I am surprised about the lack of offense. I'm not going to blame it all on the officiating--there were some pretty obvious penalties not called on both teams, but that doesn't mean much when the Pens couldn't get the puck past Tuuka Rask. I'm hoping they come back tonight ramped back to their normal offense, but with their tempers under control. The Bruins like to poke and prod, that's how they play, the Pens know this, and they have to remember to not play that game with them.

* Saw Furious 6 (really? That's what they titled it, REALLY?). It met my expectations on all levels, so I had a hell of a good time.

+ It's probably the LEAST gay of any of the movies I've seen, but they still had enough stuff in there I was seeing all the ways in which Dom and Brian were still going to go off to have sex.

+ Hobbs is king of the metaphors, people. Or should that be Samoan Thor of Metaphors?

+ I'm kind of glad Gina Carano's character turned out to be a bad guy, as otherwise the most unbelievable thing to me was that she wouldn't have been able to take Michelle Rodriguez in a fight. Yes, Michelle Rodriguez/Letty is a total badass, but...GINA CARANO! COME ON! (Yes, THAT was my sticking point. Not Hobbs destroying an interrogation room with a prisoner. Not Dom's sudden flight capabilities or, well, the entire last 40 minutes or so of the movie. THAT! Everyone has their tipping point, I guess.)

+ LOVED Luke Evans being hot and creepy. Did I mention hot?

+ That tag was...okay. Not that I don't think Jason Statham will bring a lot of fun to the franchise, but...okay.

* Got through "The Third Inning" on Ken Burns' Baseball yesterday. Oh, Black Sox. A re-watch of Eight Men Out is definitely in the offing.

It is, however, the perfect set-up to see the Mariners kick the crap out of play the White Sox tomorrow.

* I assume everyone's heard the Doctor Who news, but in case you haven't here it is. As per usual, lots of speculation about what's next, with most of it being kind of whacky.
