Love in the Time of Cholera (2007)

Why? Why did anyone attempt to make this film? I'm watching it right now (well, it just ended), and all I can say is that it fails on so many levels. The book is one of my top five ever, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez's prose is such that it would be impossible to make a film that conveys the romanticism of his imagery. I haven't heard anything good about this film, and I'm really disappointed because I was so looking forward to it. I had been planning to see it at the theatre but not I'm thinking I just wait for DVD. Sigh.

its on DVD now, but even so, it sucks! I was looking forward to it when it first came out, as well. Really disappointing

Hey, I liked the film! But then again, I hadn't read the book yet and I thought the cheeziness and creepiness was intentional for the comedy. I guess the verdict is: don't watch the movie if you've read the book, but if you haven't, give it a try.

I'd never read the book either and I also thought it wasn't as bad as everyone was making it out to be. Yeah it had its flaws but I thought it was entertaining enough.
