When he arrives at the place Charles Xavier calls 'Division X', the first thing that Erik does is separate himself from the group. He doesn't feel like talking politics with humans who don't really understand what it's like to be outcast. He also doesn't feel like hanging about with someone who has recently pried open his mind.
That's why he opts to take a walk around the perimeter of the grounds. He needs to calm his nerves from the failed attempt with Shaw, and he can't do that well with other people around. He almost feels like he ought to inflict some sort of pain, but that is an old practice that he doesn't want to fall into.
It's close to dusk now, but he hasn't returned to the living area. It still seems far too strange to be here.
